Down syndrome & Alzheimer’s

There is much evidence of a link that suggests individuals with Down syndrome are more likely to suffer from Alzheimer’s.  Below are educational materials, designed to assist individuals with Down syndrome, their families, care givers and medical professionals to prepare for that possibility.

All these documents are free to use and duplicate, with credit being given to the Delaware Developmental Disabilities Council.

Delaware is fortunate to have a number of expert medical professionals in Down syndrome, hear from Drs. Stephens and Bartoshesky from Christiana Care, explain about Down syndrome and the link to Alzheimer’s.

Down Syndrome Association of Delaware

 

Lauren Camp, Executive Director of Down Syndrome Association of Delaware shares information about DSAD and the programs and services that they offer for individuals with Down syndrome and their families.

Bethel and Randy Chang Bethel Chang, Delaware’s 1998 Mother of the Year, shares the story of her son, Randy.

 

Dr. EllisonDr. James Ellison of Christiana Care Health System explains more about the Alzheimer’s disease and the connection with Down syndrome. Delaware is fortunate to have experts like Dr. Ellison.
